The John C. Polanyi Award is presented annually to a scientist carrying out research in Canada in physical, theoretical or computational chemistry, or chemical physics. Dr. Albert Stolow, Professor with the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences and member of the Centre for Research in Photonics uOttawa, and Canada Research Chair in Molecular Photonics, is the 2018 recipient of the award, and the only award winner who has studied under the award’s namesake, Dr. John C. Polanyi, 1986 Nobel Laureate.

Dr. Stolow’s research focuses on ultrafast molecular-electronic dynamics, coherent non-linear microscopy, strong field phenomena in molecules, quantum control, non-linear optics and four-wave mixing, ultrafast optical technology, atomic and molecular beam techniques, and charged particle imaging.
