Dr. Paul Corkum is the 2018 recipient of the SPIE Gold Medal Award

Dr. Paul Corkum

Dr. Paul Corkum is a Professor with the uOttawa Department of Physics and member of the Centre for Research in Photonics (CRPuO) as well as a Canada Research Chair (T1) in Attosecond Photonics and Director of Attosecond and Strong Field Science (NRC), and is the 2018 recipient of the annual SPIE Gold Medal Award. This award, which began in 1977, is the highest honour bestowed by the Society of Photographic Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).

The award recognizes "outstanding engineering or scientific accomplishments in optics, electro-optics, or photographic technologies or applications. The recipient(s) shall have made an exceptional contribution to the advancement of relevant technology."

Dr. Corkum's research lead to the development of laser methods that contributed to the creation of the field of attoscience.
