CRPuO Director Pierre Berini elected as Fellow of The Optical Society (OSA)

The Optical Society (OSA) has elected Dr. Pierre Berini, Director of the CRPuO, Professor with the School of EECS and the Department of Physics as well as a University Research Chair in Surface Plasmon Photonics, as a Fellow during their 17 September 2018 meeting in Washington, DC.

“Since 1916, OSA has been the world’s leading champion for optics and photonics, uniting and educating scientists, engineers, educators, technicians and business leaders worldwide to foster and promote technical and professional development” (OSA, 2018).

Dr. Berini is being recognized “for scientific achievements that have led to remarkable new insights in the field of nanophotonics, including pioneering contributions to surface plasmon photonics.”

As an OSA Fellow, Dr. Berini joins a distinguished group of members who have served the Society and the optics and photonics community with distinction.
